First I would hit the right side of the center console, on the carpet just right of the heater and radio. This is where the vacuum unit is, they are know for having bad solder joints thus hitting there you will often hear a click and then things start working in which case it will need resoldered.

It would be simplest to swap out the combination switch with a cheap used one. There is no left/right headlight business on the combination switch. The fork happens at the fuse box. No relays. Check that fuse box connection again. -- Jiom

Clutch is on left as well as the brake. Placing you foot over both will engage both as far as I can tell. But you had to know that you were going for both before you started. Not a good design, L/R brakes on the same side is best. Or a hand clutch like our Moline UTS. -- Jim

Mine is a 2.2l, I think the 2.5 manual will be even harder to find, IIRC 84-85 = 2.2l, '86 2.5, '87 2.5t? Something like that anyway. All of the 190Ds I've ever driven (3) were 2.2l 5spd. I think the only 2.5 manuals found in the US are frankenbenzes. Like ours, a mix of 2.2 (84) and 2.5 (86).
