Two quickies regarding our 87 190D:
Is the passenger door supposed to not be able to unlock from the outside?
Nothing at all happens when key is turned.
How much deflection should the serp. belt have? We had it replaced with the
alternator and various tensioner equip. It seems, to me, looser than
If a door has a keyhole, then it should both lock and unlock via that door.
If the OM601 engine is anything like my OM603, then you shouldn't have much
deflection at all in your serpentine belt. I'd look to the tensioner pivot
to see if it's sitting at an angle to the timing chain cover.

Wow, I haven't studied the various classic Benz models, but after viewing
the photos, this may be my favorite. It works for me too! I know the
mid/late 60s were a great time for American car styling. And aircraft
styling - think Blackbird.

The carpet is jamming the kickdown switch in the down position, it
WILL upshift, but at about 35 mph.
If that's not the problem, the governor drive gear is broken, have to
open the case to fix.

My 1991 560SEL was burning some oil so I went to replace valve guide seals
and notice that a couple of valve guides were loose. Is there a fix with out
removing the head?

Rear self-leveling suspension has been gone through, lots replaced,
and is dead level. But, has virtually no travel and is very bouncy.

Just to confirm, you can pull the fuse to the transmission kick down
circuit. Cheap and esay!

A PITA more than difficult, it's a job to get all the short hydraulic
lines back in place without stripping the fittings. Accumulators
were about $100 each when I did mine, but that's a few years back.
Takes a couple hours to do, no more if you have a lift.
