It runs the sump pump and lights very well if the power goes out. It will start the fridge sometimes but it doesn't like it. Power is not very clean or steady. I wouldn't suggest one for running a pc as it makes terrible interference when i tried to run the tv. Works great for power tools too. Weighs maybe fifty pounds. Runs for FIVE hours on one gallon of gas. Mike Anyone have experience with these small units? I see them for ~$150, 2000 watt, both 2 and 4 stroke. If you all remember I have a 84 190D that had a bad trans. Installed a supposed good used trans out of a 2.6. The strange thing bout this trans is it has a strange fluid line assembly that runs from the cover of the back plate (governor?) to a solenoid with a single electrical connector, then to a port near the front of the tranny. EPC says this is for increased shift points. OK, so the trans goes right into forward, reverse etc but will not upshift. Previous discussions here figured it was either not building enough pressure or its something in the valve body. Well today I installed the valve body in the "new" trans that was in the old trans (only thing wrong with the old one is the b2 band broke). Same problem, will not upshift. I have tried it both with and without power applied to that solenoid thing. Have tried it with the kickdown unplugged and even with the control cable unhooked. So, my next thing I guess is that upshift line assembly thing. I guess I need to try and block it off and see what that does. I guess I will just remove the banjo bolts and installed regular bolts so it wont pass fluid. Anybody got any other ideas? -- Kaleb C. Re: [MBZ] OT Small home generators
Harry, I have no idea on the make..it looks like a honda engine clone. I bought mine at Grossman's bargain outlet on clearance for $138 with tax and all. It has really been a lifesaver, i can carry it anywhere, it is extremely quiet and starts easily. Set the choke and give it a couple pulls is all it takes. Only complaint i have is that for whatever reason, it wants to be on level ground or setting with the petcock downhill to run right. I got mine from Harbor Freight (about $20) and for the dozen or so times I've used them, I have no complaints. My advice is to buy the big set because you never know... Harry I am looking to buy a bolt cutter. The initial use will be cutting hog panels. Does anyone have suggestions on size, type, or brand? Re: [MBZ] Good on Advance Auto...
Advance Auto is the only parts place around here (DC area) and I almost enjoy shopping there. Only glitch was today, when they couldn't inform me what ATF to use in my '83 300TD. It used to be simple - Dexron/Mercon. Now they are up to Mercon 6, as well as ATF for import cars, ATF for high mileage cars, ATF Mercon for Fords, ATF for foreign cars, etc. Very confusing! Re: [MBZ] IT LIVES!!!
Congratulations Curt, enjoy. Harry Well I guess you knew it was alive but tonight I got all the brakes setup to my satisfaction, bled them and got new fluid through all the lines, got the parking brake set so it seems pretty good (the foot pedal still needs work) so I took him for a ride and got some fuel. The fuel tank vent is plugged, thats probably no surprise after sitting so much. The tires make noise, again no big shocker. The steering wheel is about 2 splines to the right, I'd taken it off when I did the dash pod last and forgot to mark it first. I think those questionable looking ball joints in the front are actually bad though I might have had a soft tire. Dwight gave me some studded snows that'll go on soon. The engine ran great, its hard to describe how different a 240D feels compared to a 190D though, the 190D is much more refined, as it should be. Clutch felt good, brakes felt great. One squeaked a bit but I'm sure that'll quiet down with some use. Came right up to temp and stayed there except when it heat soaked at the gas station. I remember it doing that before. I should replace the coolant, another thing on the list which had gotten shorter but now has extended again. For the first time ever Hammie has a proper 240D driver's carpet, its just a bit darker than the interior of the car, more brown than tan, but it looks a heck of a lot better than no carpet at all! -Curt ___ http://www.okiebenz.com For new parts see official list sponsor: http://www.buymbparts.com/ For used parts email [EMAIL PROTECTED] To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: http://okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com

[MBZ] 240D parking brake
The parking brake cable system on the 240D is fairly brilliant... After I realized I wasn't gonna finish the front brakes I started chasing my stuck cable which wasn't a cable at all its the pivot under the car. I sprayed it with Deep Creep and yanked the cables back and forth until the pivot moved freely, then coated everything that moved with axle grease. That should keep the water off it for awhile anyway. The parking brake seems to even work now the problem is that when it wasn't working I lifted the pedal a couple times and seem to have buggered the cable attachement a little. I've had the pedal out once already and its a b!tch because one nut is really hard to get at. I bought an air ratchet this morning in the hope that it'll make it easier to do that one nut (down under the fuse box where you can't reach).

Live and learn, Okiemensch. Thankfully none of them commented on "yer pretty mouth". Bob R -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Kaleb C. Striplin Sent: Saturday, November 08, 2008 9:59 PM To: Banned List; mercedes Mailing List Subject: [MBZ] I just returned from a car deal gone sour So there is this car in OKC on craigslist. I email the guy a few times, then tell him I can come Saturday (today) to pick it up. He first wants to meet me before 8am. I tell him that is too early since I have a 2 hour drive. He then wants me to meet him at 6pm. I didnt really want to be loading a car in the dark but OK. So he wants me to meet him at the mcdonalds right off the turnpike. He shows up about 15 minutes late and I follow him over to a nearby RV park where the car is. So he give me the title, I give him the cash. He asks if I need his help loading the car and I say no, I dont. So he takes off. Ok, so I get the car loaded and about the time Im getting ready to leave this pickup truck full of rednecks comes flying up. They guy gets out yelling that I am stealing the car etc. I try to explain to him that I have the car on my trailer, keys to the car, and a clear title signed off by the owner. He says the guy(who I bought it off of) owes him 3k and he has a lien on the car. I tell him to produce said lien. He cant. Turns out he is the owner of the RV park. Anyway, so I call the cops and they finally show up. I explain the situation to the officer and show him the title etc. He starts to give me some crap saying I dont own the car because its not in my name. I tell him that is correct because I just bought the car and I have the title right here. I would not have had time to get a title. Anyway, the cop says hes going to have to call into his supervisor to see what to do. The rv park guy asks the cop something and the cop tells him I have a title so I am the owner unless he can come up with a lien or something. By this time the guy knows he cant do anything to he starts backing down and asks me if he could make a copy of the title so he can try and go after the guy. I told him I would help him out anyway I could and he even had a couple of MB's he needs parts for. So turned out OK. I would have been screwed if it was one of those deals where there was no title for the car. Never again will I meet somebody after dark like that, then let them leave before I do. -- Kaleb C. BTW, I got a Harbor Freight flyer the other day and saw something interesting. They have a hex bit set for $12.99. 3/8" drive 4-8mm + 10mm, 1/2" drive 12,14,17mm.
