the dealer who double and triple checked the ATF level. I am pretty
confident they set it correctly as I mentioned just the problem you
mentioned - and now I'm on record as being unsure of the level. S

how many miles were on the car, I would turn the speedometer back to
0.
Oh, you mean the _odo_meter.
That's an entirely different animal! You can probably fix
yours, just re-knurl the driveshaft to the first gear.

I don't recall a sub-sump or pan on the 606 engine. There is only a large,
baffled oil pan. Removing that oil pan with the engine in-situ, required a
significant part of the work needed to pull the engine. So I just pulled

It's not easy to get an accurate reading. I was convinced that my
tranny was overfilled, took it to my Indie's garage and they said the
level was correct. I measured it again and still found it to be

After thinking my local dealer had done a good job, today I get a call from my
wife telling me the car is making a noise. Only starts when above ~20mph and
only gets louder with speed - not faster (the noise). All gauges are in normal
ranges. No lights.

No problems today, only thing I did was change the main fuel filter. I
consider this solved, although I still plan to change the tank strainer
eventually (have had the parts for several years now).
Guy here at the office stood and watched while I changed the filter
yesterday during lunch break.
That's a good point, I think that a damaged or partially plugged
injector line could cause problems like this, but it would be a pretty
rare event. Worth looking at.
