Actually, it means the computer cannot get the signal it wants from the 02
sensor. It may indeed be a bad sensor, but it can also be a bad EHA, fuel
distributor, or a vacuum leak. Check it all out and fix what's wrong.
Usually it is just a dead 02 sensor, but make sure everything else is OK
Me too. My indy hasn't heard it, so as soon as it warms up around here (it's
supposed to be in the 80s al through next week) the wife is going to run the
car over to him so he can hear it.
I just hope I didn't hose up the ball joints by spritzing ATF in them. I used

it's damned loud when it happens. No metal-to-metal, more like a bushing or
something that's chattering or catching when it twists or moves.

Went to take the 1986 190E 2.3-16v out of hibernation this morning, and was not
greeted by the cheery hum of the fuel pump when I turned the key on. Car won't
fire either.
Time to check the fuse for the fuel pump and the fuel pump relay, right?
The relay has been acting up for the past 3 years

I am a big fan of good old 63/37 since it's eutectic... It also has a

The original solder is lead free, starting in the early 80's. It
fatigues more easily than lead solder, hence the cracks. Not just a

24 years.
Just remember to check for burnt contact points -- if the solder
failed because there was too much resistance in the contact point and
the tabs on the board then overheated, it will simply fail again

Vacuum pump is an easy and inexpensive rebuild. RR is not so easy but
doable. I've done this twice, once on the wife's '79 300TD, once on the
son's '80 240D. If you decide to do this email me for the gotchas. Oh

the drivers rear view mirror so I don't have to mask it. But on the back of
the glass there is a electrical connection. Any idea what the conn could be
for? The adjustment is manual - using a small rod in

know of. There is a heater in there, though, so there are a pair of
wires going to it.

to the drum with rust.

Well I don't usually buy US beer, tend to go for German or Dutch lager
when I have money or the local swill in a box of 30 cans when finances
are down. Used to brew my own when I had more time and may do so again
once I get my shed cleaned up. Perhaps even look at a keg system to cut
down on
I used to work on farms, so there is not a lot of interest in seeing
fields, tractors and cows. More interested is seeing the wild west.
Sure we would love to see everything but that may well take a lifetime.

The drum shoes could be sticking to the back plate with rust
(btdt!)... Iirc a tiny amount of grease should be applied to each of
the 3 rub points behind each shoe...
