You have to have vacuum to it to close the valve. Its going to be hard
to explain, best to follow the manual, there is a specific order to
testing that system.

The heater valve is behind the battery, and is exactly as pictured. You
have to remove the battery, then the cover behind the battery, then the
cover to the side of that, and maybe even the cover under the wiper
blades and its right there. The 2nd pic is the aux water pump.

I had a GMC S15 Jimmy with a 2.8l v6 5spd manual that would do 25mpg pretty
much all the time unless it was in 4wd. I miss that truck, not a lot of power
but decent off road and good on gas. The tin worm didn't do it any favors
though.

car off I can pull a vacuum against it and it'll hold. With the car running it
becomes an open line...

Could try a rattle gun. I've used one for a lot of hard to get
out things including valve guides in VW heads. If it will get
those out and in it shouldn't have any problems with a little
hinge pin. You may have to make a driver with the right diameter.

Check with a diesel injection service -- I'm not familiar with this particular
pump, but a failed pressure valve or a worn rotor will give this problem, along
with low power warm. You should NOT be able to get vapor lock, as the
injection lines should be holding pressure up to the pop pressure

The injection pump is a distributor type pump, the same one that
is used on the 6.2 just turned up a bit. It doesn't have any air
leaks. There is a small valve on top of the final filter that
never has any air under it unless I have just changed the
filters. The supply pump is an electric unit

cover, that you have.
The electromagnetic whozis is the pump for heat at idle.

valve and all was well. So I asked Rusty for "heater valve W0133-1630748" which
is what World Pac told me I needed.
What I got was a vacuum actuated heater
