Philip, Starter on my 83 300D came out really easy. From the
bottom, unbolt and disconnect the wires and pull starter straight
back. Then turn it to point the nose up and the starter just
drops right out. Takes about 15 seconds after the bolts are all
out and the wires disconnected.
