Just got back from Mobile, AL with a 1994 S420 that belonged to Fred Stolle,
the famous Aussie tennis player. He kept the car at his North Miami Beach home

Greg, doesn't make sense unless the control units are somehow damaged by the
bad plug(s), but that would be a pretty poor design!

Hi all:
I have read a few times of people (on a Sprinter based RV) replacing the
control unit along with the plug after the failure of a single plug. Does
this make any sense to anyone? I can sort of understand replacing all the
GPs after one fails, but why the control unit?

It depends. All you have said is "had to pump the brakes to
stop the car" - which not

I have 123s - and I failed to find any rebuild parts for the
brake or clutch master cylinders.

Yes, Kaleb, do you have a W123 headlight switch?

I did the "press and hold brake pedal" test several times, engine running,
and then moved the car and looked for brake fluid (found none) and also
watched the reservoir level (it didn't seem to drop).

I found this when looking for info on 12v Relays:

All of the info is helpful but the part I thought the owners of older
cars might benefit from is down toward the bottom. It tells how to add
a buzzer using a simple relay wired to the front door li

Jim, that's a great idea, maybe Craig can try cleaning his switch up. I've
recovered many MB switches using De-Ox-It.
My 124 switch was a crimp-sealed unit, I considered opening it up to see if
it was repairable, but $10 and a few minutes at a junkyard was the best
time/money saver for me.

Switches rarely go bad, I think used is the best value.
_Second_-best value. Best value is a shot of Deoxit right
in the gizzard, that works. (A shot that doesn't work is
no value at all.)
Still, removing all those screws is a giant PITA, I'd always
opt for the cleaner first. (Later cars use
