When we put the 32GB in my brother's 1,1 the fans pegged. Nasty. We pulled half of it out and it settled down. These RAM sticks were from an HP or something, definitely not the beefy heat sink jobs that were in there before. (All gone, now, due to the fire.)

Well put, Curly. If someone was to ask me what flavor of Linux to try, I would definitely recommend Ubuntu. It has the best (in my opinion) GUI for a Linux distro and supports well known browsers, for instance. If your needs are basic, you could get through Ubuntu without ever going to the CLI
