It's an easy decision matrix, especially if the filter is cheap: Dirty Screened - N N: Good N Y: Good Y N: Bad Y Y: Good If it was dirty enough to clog the screen, it was dirty enough to destroy the compressor. So, turn it off and diagnose, if it's not working, and you should be good
