Mar lin 3 3 6 3 0 3 0. Then to the short CF ran ge where we tried
out a rock is land 38 and a turkish C Z knockoff K2P. I was able to
keep 50 y d g roups within a couple inches with iron, no glass, at the
first go. The marlins has funky aftermarket iron on it, buck horn, and
we figured out the rear was too high/front too low as it hit about 9"
high at 50. The K2P was a blast. I managed to get one group in a
quarter at 15 yd, but mostwere about 2". Really good for a cheap hole
punch and being shaky.

I always laugh about "Fast food" McD, Burglar King, Carl/Hardee,
infernal Kernel, taco dingaling, junk in the box, etc. None of them
are "fast" any more. When I worked in Honolulu, it always took at
least a half hour to get your order in and get food at any of them.
Whil e the little hole in the wall places serving local (Hawaiian/asian)
food would have hot food in your hand, with your change in 5 min or
less. The only problem was that the only places in walking distance
from work was junk in the box or the roach coach. Most days, i'd just
snag a roll or a croissant. It was faster and cheaper that either of
the "lunch" choices.

The best was when the FIlipina ladies had a lunch to celebrate
something. THAT was a good lunch!

I have been known on the rare occasion to get a sausage mcmuffin when
needing some fast protein in the morning. While I’m sure their sausage
is less than desirable, it’s pretty difficult to screw up an english
muffin. As a rule I don’t eat breakfast, so this is a very rare
occasion at best.

Ditto,

After 11 years off the road, I can now tolerate tome things from McD.
But there are a few things I like in certain regions of the country.
Like the sundaes in WI.

The absolute wort place to eat was HOJo's. The last time I ate at one
because it was a club meeting breakfast, I ordered an english muffin,
because all they had to do was toast it, or serve it cold, and an orange
juice, because they don't touch it. Well.
Yep When everyone else was almost done, they brought out this little
black cinder on a plate. I told the waitress that I could not believe
anyone in the joint thought that was fit to serve. 30 min later, I got
another, only black on the surfaces. I never did get the OJ, but it
WAS on the bill! Absolutely awful places. It was like they were run

my cars since I only drive one at a time, no response. I checked with

better coverage. So I signed up on line and have to send a pic of the

find one).

Looks like I can insure my other vehicles with them too for pretty
cheap compared to what I am paying now, and if I opt for more coverage
the cost would be about what I am paying now for just liability.

I got the road coverage too, covers all vehicles and 150mi flat bed,
I guess that is like AAA.

Used vegetable oil could help power world tradePublished: Friday, November
30, 2018

A Danish shipping company is planning to use waste vegetable oil to power
its fleet, the latest in a list of fuel innovations from a transportation
industry that's under intense pressure to lower its carbon footprint.

D/S Norden A/S, which runs more than 300 merchant ships, doesn't yet know
how many companies will want their cargoes delivered on ships powered by
vegetable oil, but it will aim to offer the service for "selected
number of
carbon-aware customers next year, and then scale it from there," said
Chief

Executive Officer Jan Rindbo in a phone interview.

Shipping needs to halve its greenhouse gas emissions by 2050 from 2008
levels under guidelines set out by the International Maritime
Organization,

which is part of the United Nations. That quest, which could also cut fuel
costs, already spawned multiple innovations and experiments over the past
few years. Those include vessels that glide on bubbles and carriers with
giant rotor sails on their decks. In more prosaic terms, naval architects
improved efficiency through better hull design.

"We had the test voyage in 2018, we will roll this out in 2019 and we can
do it on a much larger scale in 2020," Rindbo said of the vegetable oil
option. "There are issues around scalability, and these are early stages,
but we do think it could be part of the solution."

The vast majority of Norden's vessels haul dry-bulk cargoes like coal,
iron

ore and grains. The shipper plans to buy its sustainable fuel from
Netherlands-based GoodFuels Marine, Rindbo said. The venture is partially
backed by Vitol Group's Varo Energy.

According to Rindbo, the plan is effectively carbon neutral since the
vegetable oil has already been used and would otherwise be disposed of. It
would also help to address another shipping industry challenge: sulfur
emissions. From 2020, vessels will have to drastically reduce the
amount of

the pollutant they emit into the air. Vegetable oil doesn't contain any.
Clean seas, clean skies

Oceans aren't the only place where the transport industry is attempting to
lower its carbon emissions. Researchers in search of renewable jet
fuel are

now working with a rendered form of animal fat known as beef tallow — the
byproduct of processed meats — as a potential sustainable alternative to
fossil fuels. Austrian refiner OMV AG is creating a premium product
that it

says will allow planes to fly farther.

Most merchant vessels today run on conventional shipping fuel that's
typically made from the residues that remain after oil refineries have
turned crude into other products like gasoline and diesel. *— Alex
Longley,

Bloomberg*

A decent running engine is going to far exceed the current ability of the block
in Allen. IT would be nicer to be able to drop it in, but higher miles engine
might end up getting refurbishment.

I am thinking I should have done that to Allen, as the car has 483k on the
clock. Probably a bit past when it should have gotten deeper attention to wear
items and issues. Would have resolved blow by as well as smoking.

Lunch became a survey of all the quick serve locations on the route. Had to be
franchise, not owner operator to be part of the data set. McD was really close
to the bottom. Burger Fling had the best low cost burgers at the time.

I would loathe taking a working car off the street. Putting a motor into mine
should not require the sacrifice of a good enough diesel that can bring love to
somebody. Something like the Okie Acres repository of useful parts or a long
block hiding in a garage.

I would agree. I am not advocating that anyone do such a thing. I’m just
saying that in the four policies I’ve had with Hagerty, they have never made
any effort to establish that I do, in fact, have a garage and store my cars in
it. Which I do.

I have been known on the rare occasion to get a sausage mcmuffin when needing

HA!

White Castle!

Maggot Muffins

White Assh*le

Etc., etc. I could go on for hours, having grown up with White Castle, the
place you went to at 3:00 am because it was the only place open and you were so
loaded you didn’t care what you put in your stomach.

Every time we return to Indianapolis we leave the airport from the same road,
which happens to go right by a White Castle. Every time we drive by after
getting off a plane we stop and there and load up. And then afterwards we
swear “Never again!”

Their onion chips are good, though.

About 3-4 bites in I’ll start to remember how awful the stuff was/is and toss

My agent said I couldn't insure my 82 300CD as an antique with Hagerty
without a garage.
When I had my 50 Dodge pickup insured with Condon Skelly I had to have a
garage-I rented one actually.

I’ve had a number of Hagerty policies, and while they usually want a photograph
of the car, they've never asked for one in the garage.

Hagerty will insure our older cars as long as you have one daily driver that’s
fully insured as such.

[MBZ] Insurance SL600

2018-11-30 Thread Floyd Thursby via Mercedes
I tried to check with my insurance agent on getting a reduced rate on my
cars since I only drive one at a time, no response.  I checked with
Hagerty for the new SL600 and the rate was really good for much much
better coverage. So I signed up on line and have to send a pic of the
car in a garage (which I don't have available at the moment but can find
one).

Looks like I can insure my other vehicles with them too for pretty cheap
compared to what I am paying now, and if I opt for more coverage the
cost would be about what I am paying now for just liability.

I got the road coverage too, covers all vehicles and 150mi  flat bed, I
guess that is like AAA.

Send it as an attachment, and then wait for
the list mom to approve it. I *think* an
attachment no bigger than 50-80 kb
gets through with no approval. Perhaps
someone on here can chime in with the
exact size limit. I know they are in place because
one or two folks on here are still on dialup
or equivalent connections. Alternatively, you
can post photos to a hosting site ({Picasa, Photobucket,
Yahoo had one, don't recall the name offhand), or
a shared folder on a cloud storage site (Google Drive,
MS One Drive, DropBox, etc.).

The last thing I ate from MacDonalds several years ago was the fish part of a
fish sandwich.
I've never figured out what it was made of or what they had done to a fish to
make it unrecognizably a part of a fish because it didn't taste anything like a
fish. Even though it might have been the only source of food in the middle of a
night trip, since then I've never succumbed to the temptation to eat anything
from MacDonalds.

For some unknown reason, our gas just went up. It was dropping for a
while, down to about .92 per litre but all of a sudden, it went back to
$1.03. Just taking some profit I suppose but hope it goes back down as
that seems unreasonable at the moment with oil prices down.

Re: [MBZ] Today's PNP trip, some of you might be angered

2018-11-30 Thread Larry Turner via Mercedes
Equally bad at PnP here in Va, they had an identical 91 300D to mine -
right down to the colors and it was almost completely intact, I think
only the wheels were missing and that was SOP so they could put the cars
in the lot off the ground!  I suspect it was one of the donated cars
that was on their front parking lot for a could of weeks, didn't sell
and was put in the PnP area.  I didn't have the tools to remove the
things I wanted - like the Inj Pump and Turbo - I went back a few days
later and it was gone!   I asked where it went and was told it was sent
to scrap where it would have been crushed.   I was pi$$ed. They say the
cars are in the back for 30 days then they go to the crusher.   This
area is mostly populated by F150's - lots of farmers and such.  There's
little hope they'll get another one like mine.

Oh well,

Larry

They wont sell whole cars.  It was absolutely criminal.  I think I
have mentioned this before but LKQ and I am sure others source many or
most of their cars at the dealer auctions buying trade. May perfectly
fine running and driving cars get traded in, then sent to auction,
then to pnp instead of back out on the street.

Why didn't you buy the whole 190D ???

Went to the PNP for some parts today.  I needed a valve body for the 99
E300 that wont shift into 5th so I pulled on out out of a 02 ML500.  I
then came across a 98 E300 with beautiful black seats.  I should have
got them but I did not.  Maybe I should go back for them.  I then came
across a beautiful 85 bright red 190D 5 speed manny.  Body was
straight,

no rust, paint was good, interior was very nice before it got tore
apart.  On the window was wrote runs and drives, so I assume it went
thru a dealer auction or something and they bought it.  I ran the
carfax

and it had current registration and had a lot of service up till recent
at one of the local indy MB shops.  Totally unbelievable.  I got the
nice headlights and the glow plug relay.  If I had time, I should go
back and pull the engine and trans.  My only hold back is I have never
pulled any parts at the pnp as big and involved as pulling an engine.

Re: [MBZ] $19890 or best iffer

2018-11-30 Thread Mitch Haley via Mercedes
Is 166.058 a two wheel drive vehicle?
I thought all MLs were 4Matic.

http://mb-teilekatalog.info/view_DatacardAction.php?lang=E=4jgda5jb4da166979

Would a 2wd have:
A05 - TRANSMISSION ALL-WHEEL CAPABLE
VL - FRONT AXLE HALF, LEFT
VR - FRONT AXLE HALF, RIGHT

Hmm, maybe it would.
Is 4x2 two wheel drive or part time 4wd?
M007 - CHASSIS WITH 4X2 DRIVE

If you’re looking for an SD I have one sitting here that was my boy’s. In
decent shape, was a runner. Haven’t driven it for awhile but it starts and
runs. We can talk. On the opposite coast though.
