Well then a solution to the HOA problem if having a pickup truck parked in your driveway. Throw a fresh coat of house paint on it with a hand roller, and it's a "soccer mom grocery getter". OR a perfect commute car for Andrew, now that he lives in the flooded swamp of DC. There has been great heat in ANC this past week. The bulk of the neighbors are pasty white and afeared of the blazing ball of heat in the sky, so cover themselves fully. I tried that for a few minutes then gave up. Been shirtless working in the yard and puttering around the ‘hood. There might be HOA rules against this, but I have not heard. I do get disapproving glances for sitting on the front porch in my swim trunks with an ice cold beer. I guess I could frolic in the sprinkler in the front yard instead, but SWMBA does not water her lawn. Most of the neighbors subscribe to yard service, which sends an armada of mowers to assault the lawns once each week. clay > On Jul 9, 2019, at 1:13 PM, Max Dillon via Mercedes > wrote: > > What a great idea! Who makes it? And I’m wondering if you can get into proprietary systems like transmissions and see things like clutch fill times, or RST (soft top) systems? That’s the real Achilles heel of non-MB diagnostic systems, like CarSoft. They’ll get you a part of the information, but can’t get a lot of the really deep stuff or read systems that are unique to a given chassis or model. -D > On Jul 10, 2019, at 1:53 PM, fmiser via Mercedes > wrote: > >> Floyd wrote: > >> I'm looking at the MB Star systems right now, about $600 with a >> laptop to run the software, and the mux to talk to the car. >> These OBD things won't do all the things on the Benzes but the >> MB Star will do all of it. Re: [MBZ] OT: HOAs and patina
Having lived at an earlier time when ALL men wore hats, and removed them at the door, I offer this observation of modern culture. At the earlier time, every place you went into had hat racks, so you could "park your hat" while doing business. Segway forward to modern era, and look for a place to "hang your hat" they don't exist. Further, dining tables are now very landscape challenged. There is no place to lay your hat and eat a meal. Thus, I posit the culture adapted to the conditions imposed and shifted to keeping your hat parked on your head... hair or not. Living in Arizona, where we have 363 days each year of full sun, I always wear a palm leaf wide brim hat [the only good ones are hand made in Guatemala] . I own several, all the same, and I wear one even if I go to the mail box even though I have a full head of hair. In fact, gave one to my dermatologist, which he loves. The hats take up a lot of landscape [20 inches brim to brim], if you try to park them in a restaurant, so I always eat with my hat on... Unless there is a hat check valet...;)) On Wed, Jul 10, 2019 at 10:01 AM OK Don via Mercedes wrote: > No, hair loss causes wearing a hat. Nope, we seldom feel those that are at/near 3.0. It's the 4.0 and up that get our attention. I'm surprised that that one made the news - very common here, though like that article says, they are declining in number and intensity now. [MBZ] OT: OK Earthquakes
Hope the diesel listers were unshaken by these tremors. Series of earthquakes shake central OklahomaPublished: Wednesday, July 10, 2019 No injuries or damage have been reported following several small earthquakes in central Oklahoma. The U.S. Geological Survey says a magnitude 3.1 temblor was recorded at 9:44 a.m. yesterday 7 miles west of Kingfisher, or about 35 miles west of Oklahoma City. The earthquake was recorded at a depth of 4 miles. Two other earthquakes, both magnitude 2.6, were recorded in the same area yesterday. Thousands of earthquakes in Oklahoma in recent years have been linked to the underground injection of wastewater from oil and gas production. USGS reports the number of magnitude 3.0 or greater earthquakes is on pace to decline for the fourth straight year after state regulators began directing producers to close some injection wells and reduce volumes in others. *— Associated Press* ___ http://www.okiebenz.com To search list archives http://www.okiebenz.com/archive/ To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: http://mail.okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com

Re: [MBZ] OBDII reader
The $10 ones work as code scanners. I've got one of those but never took it out of the package. OBDLink MX and LX can do more. That hardware supports bidirectional communications, up to and including flashing the software in the ECU. I'm not sure what you can see with the software that comes with them. Having used a pro scanner and a code reader, I can say a pro scanner is worth having. There'a a big difference between knowing code P0449 was set and knowing that it was first set 658 miles ago, last occurred 658 miles ago, occurred 4 seconds after the engine was started at 1247rpm with a lot of throttle and fuel tank pressure at 0.0 (I'm wondering if I need a new gas cap, even though the code doesn't point at a gas cap), and the car has gone through 44 warmup cycles since it happened. ___ http://www.okiebenz.com To search list archives http://www.okiebenz.com/archive/ To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: http://mail.okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com

I bought some cheap bluetooth (or maybe wifi, doesn't matter really, it talks to my phone) dongle off Amazon I think when they were on sale, was maybe $6. banggood have them for like $4. I use a free app called inCarDoc on the ifone, pulls up some interesting stuff, seems to work well. They have a paid version too, not much as I recall, that will show a lot more stuff, but the basic will list the codes. I've used it on the Benzes and my chebby trucks. There are some other similar apps, I saw this one recommended on the BW forum I think. --FT On 7/10/19 9:06 AM, Curley McLain via Mercedes wrote: I finally came up with a spyfone (android) for cheap.
