Thanks on the Champ. It is a true barn find, well hanger find, actually.
It comes with a full set of engine and airframe log books from the day it
left the factory in 1946, which is incredible. In digging through the
current history today I discovered it has been setting in the hanger where
Price is on the high side with the rebuilt title. Driver's seat has a cut on
it. Would also need to check the VIN for bad engine. If engine is good might be
within negotiating range.

I don't know what this guy paid, but if he paid full ask on the last add
of $2k, I guess he figures he will try to make $500. That last ad was
up a while from the previous seller. Hopefully this guy gets hung out

it. They have a festival every year around Labor Day weekend. To see cars like

If the engine is locked up that would be a $500 car, you could drop
something else into it and have a nice runner

Sounds like a 190 starter. Had one here temporaritly with start problems
(turned out to be a chewed up ring gear, starter was fine). Took out the bolts
and it dropped right out, luckliy NOT on my head since I was under the car up
on jack stands.
Had to pull the engine mount on that side to
Maybe VW does better than MB for parts available for older cars.
