I think the ceramic pads come already "set" by a baking process, read that over the weekend on one of the makers websites. Not sure if Akebono are same, I don't remember any special process when I installed them a few years ago. Just paid $45, I think OE from MB run about $70 or more. -- Max D

Wagner top of line Ceramic pads made by whom? I put Akebono on the Ranger and they've been great. The Ranger rear brakes SUCK, when they're wet they're very grabby so its nice to have very good fronts... Rusty sold me some other brand (Wagner maybe?) for the fronts on my 190D when Akebono

I have had ATE ceramics on my TE for a few months now and no dramas, except for a bit of squeal when reversing down the drive. Also getting a bit of slow braking ABS pulsing but not sure if the pads are to blame for that. It's getting close to needing to do a few jobs on the S124, so will invest
