Yeah yeah, i'm here. Don't get your tin foil hats out just yet. Its not quite as simple as they make it sound. I won't get into here on a public forum, but you really don't have to worry. I hate to break it to you, but none of us are special enough to warrant the huge amount of effort it takes a hacker to make something like this happen to take over the car your grandma drives to church. But note that cars have had cellular phones in them for a really long time... ever hear of on-star? And as for jobs in NJ... mine is just fine... I don't work for MBUSA, I work for another sister company. And in this case too, things are not as simple as you read online and in the papers. Lots of people still in Montvale working away. Re: [MBZ] Keep those 123 chassis' rolling
All you have to do (now anyway) is to NOT connect your phone to the car. You can also turn off Bluetooth when in/near the car. Of course, all this will change in the next year or two when that cars all come with cellular connections that you won't be able to turn off, giving the manufacturer full control as they wish, and the hackers an easier target . . . Let 'em know to get that car into the dealership to see if it needs the update referenced in the article. If they don't use any of the "features", I'd find the antenna(s) connections and disconnect/cut. - Max Charleston SC On Wed, Jul 22, 2015 at 11:45 AM, Curt Raymond via Mercedes < mercedes@okiebenz.com> wrote: > Hmm, my parents just bought a Cherokee... > -Curt > From: Meade Dillon via Mercedes > To: Mercedes Discussion List > Cc: Meade Dillon > Sent: Wednesday, July 22, 2015 11:32 AM > Subject: Re: [MBZ] Keep those 123 chassis' rolling > > Damn, you mean now I need tinfoil for both my head AND my new car?
