Re: [MBZ] Benzing yesterday
I got the new wheel speed sensor on the ML. Was easier to get at the connector by taking off the wheel well liner. Kinda glad I did, there’s huge amount of crap up behind the lower rear part of the fender I’ll hose out of there. It amazes me the engineers still design these hidden rust inducers. Other than that the front is surprisingly clean, no oil leaks or anything. I’m looking to see just how bad the engine mounts are going to be… If the connector end was a bit easier to get at it would have been a 10min job not counting getting the jack organized and taking off the wheel. --FT Sent from iFōn > On Nov 12, 2022, at 10:51 AM, dan penoff.com via Mercedes > wrote: > > Coolant tanks and power steering reservoirs are common sources of leaks on > these and the parts are surprisingly cheap. Coolant tanks and power steering reservoirs are common sources of leaks on these and the parts are surprisingly cheap. I’ve got a new reservoir for the AZ ML350 just for cosmetics but I haven’t swapped it out yet. -D > On Nov 12, 2022, at 8:44 AM, Floyd Thursby via Mercedes > wrote: > > The overflow nipple on the coolant tank was leaking on the ML500 so I > ordered a new one (surprisingly inexpensive, $35 I think) and put it on the > car yesterday. [MBZ] Benzing yesterday
The overflow nipple on the coolant tank was leaking on the ML500 so I ordered a new one (surprisingly inexpensive, $35 I think) and put it on the car yesterday. It was not a hard job except for those spring clamps on a couple of the hoses that were hard to reach. I think I might put some JBWeld on the old one and seal it up, might be a "good" spare to have. Today is a new LF front wheel speed sensor I think is causing the Holy Trinity of error codes BAS ESP ABS -- --FT ___ http://www.okiebenz.com To search list archives http://www.okiebenz.com/archive/ To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: http://mail.okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com
Re: [MBZ] Benzing yesterday
Yeah I did that same job years ago and it was simple. Put on new (used I think I got from someone on the list like 20yr ago) hydraulic shocks too. --FT Sent from iFōn > On Apr 3, 2022, at 5:14 PM, Andrew Strasfogel via Mercedes > wrote: > > You should trade it in for a W123 wagon. You should trade it in for a W123 wagon. I changed my 300TD spheres and it was way easier. Lots of room and easy access. [MBZ] Benzing yesterday
I have the SL600 in sick bay for various work. It's up on blocks and jackstands with the wheels dangling. I decided yesterday to swap out the rear accumulators for the hydraulic suspension. Watched some utuber vids and read some posts in BW, didn't look too hard. I started about 11A finished after 6P working straight through. Getting all the lines disconnected and the spheres out was fiddly as there is not a whole lot of room to work on the driver side. The pass side was not too bad. Used some crowfoot flare nut wrenches, some regular flare nut wrenches, various sockets and wobble extensions and box wrenches. Getting things back together was a whole nuther story. It was extremely difficult to get the lines back on, get the flare nuts back in their threads and holes. After lots of fiddling I finally got it done, I'm not even sure how, So anyway all seems to be back in tight. I have the radiator out so won't get the car fired up until I get that sorted. I thought the water pump was leaking, and it might be, but after getting stuff out I am wondering if the radiator is shot as it looked like there were leaks coming from the bottom of it. I will have to figure out some way to pressure test it. I think new ones are hard to find and somewhat pricey. The joys of a V12... I guess since I got it cheap I have little to complain about. -- --FT ___ http://www.okiebenz.com To search list archives http://www.okiebenz.com/archive/ To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: http://mail.okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com
