Well, I decided to go all in on the door closing assist issue today. Earlier
in the week I bought a used door latch on eBay for $30 shipped that had the
suspect microswitch.
I got the latch unfastened and dropped down into the door, but without taking
the rear window slide out, it's not
Done.
Had to really fight to get everything back together. Reassembled twice and the
mechanism locked up. Figured out that the pin from the back of the door handle
lock cylinder wasn't getting where it needed to be, and was pressing up against
the mechanism and locking it up.

Have you tried resetting the pump?
That's the first step.
Since both don't work my first suspicion would be the pump. If one doesn't
work then there is most likely a leak or the adjustment thing is leaking.

Easy. Pull the fuse. Could be 3, 9 or 11. Check the card in the fusebox.
Both the PSE and central locking pumps have timers in them that time them out
if they run on (due to a leak, typically.) The only way to reset he timer is
to remove power from the system, e.g., pull the fuse or
