I’ve got a coupla old geezer wheelers I was thinking to turn into rolling Terminators. Put stereo cameras on it, laser trackers, remote paintball turret, maybe even a 5W laser for deterrence, pepper sprayers, wasp spray cans, tracks. Of course it would still be vulnerable to jamming but it would cause a reappraisal I’m sure. --FT Sent from iFōn > On Nov 7, 2022, at 11:17 AM, Jim Cathey via Mercedes > wrote: > > >> >> If a “professional” thief wanted into my house I'm sure the cameras would be >> a minor inconvenience. > > It's all about risk/effort vs reward. True. And there’s nothing that would make my house any more attractive than my neighbor’s. Especially since in this case some of my neighbors are Airbnbs, which would be far easier to knock off, I would bet. We have motion activated security lights, and there’s also my son’s girlfriend’s dog, too. Woof! So are you suggesting that Cathey Acres has a driveway lined with such detritus? -D > On Nov 7, 2022, at 9:16 AM, Jim Cathey wrote: > >> If a “professional” thief wanted into my house I'm sure the cameras would be >> a minor inconvenience. > > It's all about risk/effort vs reward. Re: [MBZ] Eufy S40 SoloCam
If a “professional” thief wanted into my house I'm sure the cameras would be a minor inconvenience. I can think of any number of ways I could disable a camera, WiFi or otherwise, without ever dealing with the WiFi aspect. The solar cell appears to have a glass cover. Im not sure what the film was on top of it. My new ones don’t appear to have it from what I can tell. It’s not a shipping thing or anything like that, more like a coating. And we’re ideal for testing against UV, being at 7,000’ MSL. The UV will nuke the p*ss out of anything around here in short order if it’s exposed to the sun with any frequency. Easy to get a quick tan or sunburn, though. -D > On Nov 7, 2022, at 8:35 AM, Jim Cathey wrote: > > Still can't help but wonder if a professional thief wouldn't just equip > himself with a wifi jammer to take out all these 'e-z' security systems > before approaching a target. > > Plastic not good under UV light. Mine seems to be holding up and getting enough photons, it is under a small overhang and doesn't really get a lot of sun anyway but it does OK. The mount is crap but I got it tight enough after some fiddling, and turned the ball track almost horizontal so it doesn't have ED anymore. I have got a couple of alerts at night, it looks like a swarm of some kind of insects that triggered it, they are maybe attracted to the IR light or something, I don't know if it is even shining when it is quiet. Takes some pretty good night vids though. --FT On 11/7/22 9:19 AM, dan penoff.com via Mercedes wrote: I haven’t had sunlight issues with any of mine, but I will say the mount leaves a lot to be desired.
