Thanks, but I guess I'll just have to continue to be lonely and tough it out in my mere sedan, and I already know my tires are properly balanced - even tested on I-95 but not at 100 mph; well enough, though. BTW, I never noticed the chick-magnet effect when I had coupla station wagons, 'course, they were a lowly Pontiac and a Chrysler. Oh, wait! Yes, they were, too; I often also had two mighty fine looking blonde women riding with me - one was even a strawberry blonde (now white-headed and sitting at the kitchen table reading the paper). I guess the magnets worked OK, anyway. ; Wilton - Original Message - From: Dillon, Meade M CIV SPAWARSYSCEN-ATLANTIC,53310 meade.m.dil...@navy.mil To: Mercedes Discussion List mercedes@okiebenz.com Sent: Wednesday, November 10, 2010 7:56 AM Subject: Re: [MBZ] Inspiration Once you finish, I'll swap you for my wagon (if your Wife will allow you to drive a chick-magnet) so you can do that one properly, and I'll make sure your tires are properly balanced out on I-95. -Max -Original Message- From: mercedes-boun...@okiebenz.com [mailto:mercedes-boun...@okiebenz.com] On Behalf Of WILTON Sent: Tuesday, November 09, 2010 9:52 AM To: Mercedes Discussion List Subject: Re: [MBZ] Inspiration 'Had IVIG treatment at hospital yesterday morning. It really is a lot of work to give a car a proper clean and wax, but don't they look amazing after the work is done! I often do the cars in sections too, and doing the whole go at once is often too time consuming. Good trick with the painters tape. I've used it too. The 911 has lots of black rubber trim, against a darker paint. The dried wax on the trim can make the finished product look like a mess, but the tape works wonders! Saves a lot of messing about with toothbrushes! ;-) Ed 300E Needs a good clean, with all the Maple leaves falling on the paint, and leaving stains!! The painter's tape is a great idea. I like it! If it's after the fact, you can use a regular eraser (the pink wedge-shaped ones) to get the white crud/wax off of black trim items. Re: [MBZ] Inspiration
Good tip to know too. The biggest pain for me, is trying to avoid the seal around the sunroof while applying wax. I try to say a quarter inch away from it, but that unwaxed quarter inch kinda bugs me at times! Ed 300E On 6 November 2010 16:12, LWB250 lwb...@yahoo.com wrote: The painter's tape is a great idea. Re: [MBZ] Inspiration
I forget who it was who used to wax their race cars with Pledge in the pits. But when asked once, if he found the wax made the cars more slippery and gained him any advantage in top end speed, he replied, No, but it makes them smell nice.
