We spent memorial day with a huge flock of fliers. A-6, F-4, A1 and
more, up to F18. It was a very interesting and also humbling
experience. One was the air boss on the USS Midway when the cessna
landed on it. The ship's Captain ok'd the landing and the Air Boss
made it happen. Also

I have not been to the Air & Space museum for years and watched the
movie they show, but it used to feature this poem with uplifting
narration with lots of footage of airplanes flying and music with lots
of timpanies booming. Government workers like the timpani booms, it
apparently seems

Anybody else remember when TV transmitters actually
shut down for the night? They used to run an air force (?)
video right before sign-off, with this poem being read
as the audio. I don't remember which network did that.

I have been to the D-Day beaches in Normandy as well as the cemeteries there.
It is an amazingly somber yet beautiful place. Tough to imagine the things
that took place there. If by chance you have the opportunity to hobnob with
the locals, and I would encourage you to get off the beaten

I strongly endorse the sentiment but I fear these sacrifices will be squandered
also, like the more recent sacrifice in Fallujah.
