Oh well that won't work then. We got rid of all the bolt wheels with the bug. Good luck. Allan Streib via Mercedes wrote: 4 bolts, 15" wheel. Aircooled engines run much higher cylinder head temps than liquid cooled engines, meaning a higher risk of detonation. Yes, I'd run premium without question. An aircraft engine with 8.5:1 pistons needs a minimum of 93 octane fuel. IIRC it's 10:1 (or is it after 10:1?) at which point you need higher grade gas but I could be remembering wrong... They seem to have a presence on Facebook... https://www.facebook.com/houseofghia And a website that seems to be under renovation... http://www.house-of-ghia.com/ Might have to hold my nose and use my Facebook account I guess, if that's where they are active. As a random side note, while I had the car out in the sun I cleaned and polished all the glass. What a difference that makes in the appearance of any car. Look up House of Ghia. That use to be “the” place for everything Ghia. Not sure that’s still the case, but the guy that founded it (who has since passed on) was a major league fanatic about them and probably forgot more than anyone else ever knew. -D > On May 23, 2021, at 6:36 PM, Allan Streib via Mercedes > wrote: > > You may recall I picked up a Karmann Ghia last November. [MBZ] OT short ghia update
You may recall I picked up a Karmann Ghia last November. Not wanting to subject it to any salt or winter it has been in the garage since then. I got it out today and it started up and ran nicely. It ran pretty rough in the driveway the few times I tried to run it during last winter so I figured I'd need to clean out the carbs and give it a general tune up. It has a dual carb setup with Webers and I took a closer look and they don't seem to have any choke mechanism at all. So that would explain the rough running in the cold.
