Yup. Any cylinder head removal on an newer Ford truck requires removal of the cab. That, and the spark plug woes of the 2000's 5.4 engine made for some innovative tool design. Re: [MBZ] Price Of Fuel
I think Randy is correct on all points. The gas engines available today are so powerful, fuel efficient and long-lived the advantages of a diesel are considerably less than they used to be. Last night I hauled the dirty old Ferd to Maine. 4,000# tractor on what is probably a 1,000# trailer. Dodge RAM 1500, 5.7l hauled it no problem. 390HP, it did hold in 4th (5spd automatic) to pull hills but I never felt like I couldn't accelerate. 3/4 ton and heavier trucks need more expensive tires too, like twice the money. Insurance and tax will be more too... -Curt On Thursday, May 13, 2021, 11:54:04 AM EDT, Randy Bennell via Mercedes wrote: I know most of us on here are diesel junkies but he really needs to be careful about buying a "big old commercial style diesel pick-emup". You cannot remove the heads without removing the cab so labour is high and parts are expensive. Just routine maintenance is high given the amount of oil they require and the cost of fuel filters etc. If you avoid the routine service, then you have more likely troubles. Sure you can! Contact all manner of eco friendly municipalities or property owners and haul the kids on over. SEA loves to contract for goat removal of offending herbaceous matter. The bus arrives, the area is fenced off and for the next few days goat poop is produced. Then the kids get back on the bus and head off to greener pastures. Maybe the things could be used to clear homeless encampments. Re: [MBZ] Price Of Fuel
You want some real thorns? New Zealand has gorse fields that are literally impenetrable. "Its introduction resulted in large spreading infestations over hundreds of hectares, peaking in the late 1940s. It was recognised as a threat as early as 1861 where the Provincial Council in Nelson passing an act to prevent the planting of gorse hedges. The seed can lie dormant on the ground for up to 50 years, germinating quickly after the adults have been removed. Unfortunately, most methods of removing adult gorse plants, such as burning or bulldozing them, create the ideal conditions for the gorse seeds to germinate and total eradication with current technology seems impossible. Gorse is now one of the most widely recognised agricultural weeds in New Zealand. It covers 700,000 hectares (1,700,000 acres) at varying densities — a total of 5% of the land area of New Zealand when excluding existing indigenous forest, vegetated sub-alpine and alpine areas.Gorse became New Zealand's most costly weed to control, an estimated $22 million per annum by the early 1980s." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gorse_in_New_Zealand On Mon, May 10, 2021 at 2:24 PM Curt Raymond wrote: > Using Baltimore as a benchmark it's nearly 800 miles from the great > northern estate in Caribou. > > We've got some pretty great thorns up north too. Using Baltimore as a benchmark it's nearly 800 miles from the great northern estate in Caribou. We've got some pretty great thorns up north too. Last fall I shot a partridge in a hedgerow and then realized that I couldn't get to it. I don't know what the bushes are but they've got 1" long thorns that are just vicious. I ended up crawling 50 feet on my belly each way to retrieve the bird. Now I'm debating, on the one hand, the bush hog will make short work of those thorns. That would resolve a host of issues for the cruise ship industry. AK is going to have a massive bust if the boats full of tourist fail to show up for yet another year. Thing were just starting to look up after six years of recession, and then the current plague sucked a massive number of jobs in tourism out with the tides. Canada does not allow boats to transit or dock, so anybody getting on a boat in Seattle, with Jones act dead, would be most welcome in GWN. Not sure how much more transport of goods northbound would make for better living there as well. Then again, the boats heading south are pretty much deadheading garbage/trash and recycling. Not much of commercial value otherwise. clay Political correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical minority, and rapidly promoted by mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a piece of shit by the clean end. > On May 9, 2021, at 8:27 PM, Rick Knoble via Mercedes > wrote: > > I wonder if they (government) will suspend the Jones Act. > > > Rick ___ http://www.okiebenz.com To search list archives http://www.okiebenz.com/archive/ To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: http://mail.okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com

I'm seeing that industries across the board have built themselves a particular vulnerability by running their entire operations via computers. The number and scope of such attacks have increased, yet, the weakness of your entire operation, delivery of product, and profit is all tied to a computer system that is vulnerable to attack. To my way of thinking, this has evolved into utterly stupid, and it is now every industry, not just one.
