Re: [MBZ] Tranny plug, etc.
Once I undid the bolt it just slid out. I was trying to figure out how it would be replaced, I don’t see any way to disconnect the wire. I’ll look at it more later. There was another wire and something on the back of the tranny, sticking out the back. I’ll have to figure out what all these do. I got the driveshaft disconnected after I put the rear on blocks so I could spin the driveshaft to get at all the flex disk bolts. Nothing holding the engine/tranny in now but gravity. I got some short pieces of chain today and some links to hook it to the lift points but the links are too big for the chain (dumb me) so off to TS tomorrow to get some smaller ones. I might pull off some other bits while I have it lifted up then pull the engine and drag the body up on the trailer, jack it onto blocks and pull the diff, wheels, steering box, and rear axles and whatever else might be worthwhile. --R Sent from iPhone > On Oct 4, 2017, at 9:33 PM, Robert Massmann via Mercedes > wrote: > > On my older Mercedes that type plug had a lock collar that needed to be > rotated to release the plug? > > Bob Massmann > > Oregonia, Ohio > > With a very tired 95 E300D, 462,000 miles > > -Original Message- From: Kaleb C. Re: [MBZ] Tranny plug, etc.
I got it off after I dropped the back of the tranny and saw the bolt. I guess it’s the speed sensor. I’ll have to fish all that stuff out if I want to use it again. I think there’s only the two connectors but I’ll look to make sure before I start pulling. --R Sent from iPhone > On Oct 4, 2017, at 6:16 PM, Larry Turner via Mercedes > wrote: > > Are you going to do anything with the 420 Body after you pull the > engine/transmission? Are you going to do anything with the 420 Body after you pull the engine/transmission? Re: [MBZ] Tranny plug, etc.
I guess I am not sure then. The only ones I am aware of is the neutral switch in the middle which has a bigger plug with a twist off holder on it, and at the rear is the speed sensor which has a 10mm bolt holding it in, and the kickdown switch which is either pushed on or held on with a screw usually. [MBZ] Tranny plug, etc.
I'm fixing to pull the engine/tranny in this 420SEL donor, I pulled off on electrical connection (front one) on the tranny, there is another one, bigger, behind it, that is a bugger to get at and pull off.
