Don't forget that Al Gore introduced the legislation to establish
ARPANET, which evolved into the internet we know. Jump back 30
years
Whether or not Colosus (sp?) was the first digital computer or not I
don't know, as IBM was also doing quite a bit ot work in that vein
in the 30's.

Even the metric system isn't quite rational, being based on the
distance between Paris and the North Pole.

Not talking about the _invention_ of the computer, that can
serve as a point of contention among all who care to debate
it. (Fun over beer.) Talking about the explosive proliferation
of same. That's quite clearly a US thang.

I thought the first true computer was build by the British to break the

It's _a_ meter, not _the_ meter. Simple!

which are somewhat larger.

I don't know, I'm not American. Probably multimeter as in multi-measuring
device. There really isn't such a thing as multimeter, all meters are the
same length, a meter in theory, unless measured in China, in which case,

OK, then why does the warning light illuminate when I turn the switch to

which is turned on by switching to the left.
Anyway I'll replace the parker lights and see where I am at.

One click past off to the left is the right side, two clicks left is

Doesn't. The warning only lights when it's _trying_ to turn
on any given light and it won't. (And the ignition is on.)

Ed,
Does your 300E have a third brake light? The guy I bought my old 300TD from
used a piece of electrical tape to cover the dash light insteasd of tracing
the fault. It turned out to be the third brake light in the middle of the
rear window.

To be honest, I'm still trying to figure out how to turn those one. Is it
one turn on the light switch to the left, and then use the turn signal stock
to indicate the side you want to activate ?

Did ya check your parking lights, the little ones. I got a warning light

You need to check the marker lamps and the license plate lamps,
especially for one that is dimmer than the rest. The module works by
measuring current draw to the pairs of lamps -- if they don't pull
the same amps, the warming light comes on. You may have to replace
all the bulbs with mat

It is. Only for those lights you can't see from your seat,
the ones that can get you a ticket or even killed if broken.
What, you want a light in the dash to tell you another light
