Yeah, the case on mine is pretty beat up. I had take the cover off a couple of years ago and make some adjustments so the front and back covers didn’t push in. Still keeps charging, though. Definitely got our money’s worth out of this one. -D > On Oct 31, 2018, at 6:03 PM, Curley McLain via Mercedes > wrote: > > I just keep fixing the cords on the old Schauer chargers. I much prefer the low amp/slow juicing, but with the diesels I sometimes need to just kick the thing over and hope I get enough of a charge on the way to make it good. I haven't needed to use it too much because my BatteryMINDer 12248 and 1510 will start charging a battery even if its voltage is fairly low. Re: [MBZ] Who is in Charge?
+1 Look for old chargers at auctions/garage sales. You want one with no electronics at all. A 6/12V switch is ok. 6/8/10 amp. I have an old Schauer 2 A charger (6/12) that I love. Yes, it takes a day or two for a flat battery, but for all but emergency use, that is ok. I use higher amp ones for emergency charging. Too many amps can damage the battery. I have a HF, electronic gizmo, and had to use it last week. It took a while to get the nanny to realize the battery needed a charge, but after a few tries, it worked. My neighbor has a smart charger. About once a year I take a dumb charger over there to jump start his smart charger. It's too smart to want to charge a dead battery. The old fashioned Shumacher on wheels is on sale for $130 at Advance Auto, but they don't let you use internet coupons on sale items any more. The $100+ purchase would get you $20 off on your next $50 purchase if you join Speedperks, I use the $20 coupons to buy two oil change specials when there's a Mobil One rebate going. > On October 29, 2018 at 8:13 PM Curt Raymond via Mercedes > wrote: > > > You need a dumb charger, ___ http://www.okiebenz.com To search list archives http://www.okiebenz.com/archive/ To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: http://mail.okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com
