I'm not sure I understand the question, are you saying going from a laptop 2.5 ATA (ie. PATA or IDE) to a desktop SATA? Not always an apples to apples conversion. Many (most?) laptop drives are 5400rpm (some older drives are even 4300) while many (again most?) desktop drives are 7200rpm.
