I've occasionally seen a Fram filter cartridge or some such at the
Autozone, it appears to be just a bare pleated filter element; it didn't
have the separate bypass filter section. I always use an OEM such as a
Mahle or Hengst from Rusty. They are handy items to pad on an order if
you're close
In general, yes, they are not of the quality of what Mr. Q sells.
often not fitting right, no bypass, or 100% bypass. Wix makes
filters that are generally good, but the MB Wix filters make me real
nervous. In an emergency I will use a Wix, but Mr.Q's filters are
better and generally cheaper.
Local parts stores have crap filters for twice the price of correct Rusty ones.
Rusty is the man (pun not intended) for filters!
