Switches rarely fail with a closed contact in my experience - they fail by
not making contact when you push it. If the window went down by itself,
something closed the circuit somewhere - and I'm betting it didn;t happen
in the switch.

They come in shorter lengths and smaller diameters also - I went one size
larger than the wizard recommended for my shop. The fittings,
regulator/filters, etc. are more expensive than the basic kit.

Anyone know the tightening torque for a W123 transmission pan? I know it's
important to not overtighten and warp the pan. I'm thinking something like 8-10
lb-ft?

I ordered some parts late Thursday. Arrived today, with "free" shipping. Not
bad considering the holiday weekend.

Yea the 722.9 might be strong, but I do not think it is near as heavy
duty as the Allison that sits behind the Duramax. If the GL got a lot
better mileage towing, it would make sense. If they get close to the
same, might as well use the Duramax.

The GL does not, but the Duramax does. I would think with as high tech
as the 164 is surely there is a way to pull up tranny temp.

DAS will too, but who wants to run down the road with that? I wonder if
there is some menu you can get into on the dash that will show it.

From what I understand there was a recall on the early ML/GL tow
hitches. Anybody know about this? I plugged in my VIN on the NTSB
website that shows if there are any open recalls, and nothing shows.
That either means it has already been done on mine or mine was not
affected. I have also

I just put in an order, about $130 worth so qualified for the free
shipping. That option predicts a delivery of 19 July, would be nice to get
it around 12 July instead. Bunch of glow plugs and intake gasket and some
other bobs and bits. Not in a big hurry to get to that job, so doesn't

Maybe. I found some procedure to clear the message that says how long it’s been
since service and there are some hidden menus you can access. No idea if trans
temp might be buried in there somewhere but it’s possible, and should be

Thanks for posting that, I think. Pretty much convinces me to never buy a used

Sounds like issues that can be managed by staying on top of maintenance. For
example not stretching oil change intervals, maybe even shortening them.
Most owners are really bad at this. It's part of the reason modern cars now
have nannies that tell you the oil level is low, it's time to change
Agreed, it seems to me that a wiring short in the door hinge accordion
joint is a prime suspect. Have a short in the left rear window on The
White Whale that tried to strand me with that window down. Had to have
someone hold the switch in the up position whilst I flexed and wiggled that
bundle
Since the Duramax is down getting injectors replaced, I took the GL up
to Kansas City to pickup my new 2 post lift. The trailer weighs approx
2k lbs and the lift is about 1500. Towing up empty with 2k and back
with 3500 or so, it averaged about 16.5mpg. This was mostly at around
70mph. The
Pretty car. Not sure I like the wheels. Some odd phrasing in the ad copy
guessing its probably due to speech-to-text.

Sounds like a good vehicle, finally. Yeah there is more to go wrong
with it but if you bought to drive, then... The 722.9s are pretty
strong as long as you keep after the fluid, I was watching some vids
about rebuilding 722.9s, seems like the clutches burn up with bad/old/no
fluid. I think
