And that could be, however, they weren’t on the ground here reading the SDS and
checking the various components.
The key word here is “probably”.
I went in assuming everything was good and used the process of elimination to
narrow it down to the ETA. There could certainly be other issues, but
And several people told you the eta was probably bad regardless of what the PO
said.

Did you read what I wrote?
The PO told me his indie sent the ETA out to be tested and it tested OK.
Apparently it wasn’t. So I was going on the understanding that the ETA was
good, but my testing showed that it had problems, which is why I sent it out
for rebuilding.

with a new to me car.
The more electrical cars become, the harder it is to find the electrical
gremlins and the easier it is for said gremlins to hide among the depths of
programmed self destruction. The voltage difference
Thanks!
Many of us have taken on “basket cases” like this one, where you have to
discount everything the PO told you and just start from scratch. Despite the
PO’s mechanic claiming the ETA to be good, down in the weeds diagnostics just
didn’t support those claims so I really had no choice but
I'm sure I heard a resounding echo of Wiltons "Attaboy"... which I second.

Just heard from the ETA rebuilder. The ETA (throttle body) had a bad clutch
coil in it, meaning that it was more or less in permanent limp home mode as the
electronic throttle would never have engaged.
This is great news as it confirms my diagnosis and means that the car should be
functional
