Re: [MBZ] Windshield Polishing Results
I went ahead and did my whole windshield. As the sun is now out of my line of sight I can’t compare it in bright sunlight, but in the morning it should still be dark enough when I go out to see it against oncoming headlights and streetlights, which is almost better than the sun when it comes to showing defects. I will say it was amazingly clean when I washed the car afterwards! My RainX went on like buttah. The videos I watched for taking out deep scratches used this abrasive and a felt wheel, like a grinding wheel. They wailed on the scratch with the thing for a while, but it definitely took out the scratch. -D > On Nov 5, 2017, at 4:37 PM, Karl Wittnebelwrote: > > I tried it for awhile on some wiper scratches, and it did polish the glass, > but did not come anywhere close to grinding oit the scratches. I tried it for awhile on some wiper scratches, and it did polish the glass, but did not come anywhere close to grinding oit the scratches. It would take a stepwise approach with several grits to remove enough glass to get the scratches out. I also tried it on the headlights, but mine are so badly pitted it was pretty hopeless. Im sure there are some more aggressive grits to deal with deeper irregularities. Have not read anything on this topic I just ordered the amazon stuff Dan posted earlier. Seems like a proper buffer/grinder would be a wise idea also; drill was quite slow even for small areas. I used water to control temp. Makes a big mess. [MBZ] Windshield Polishing Results
Someone (Max?) here was wondering if the polishing compound I got a few weeks ago to take the scratches out of my back window on the wagon would work to take some of the “sandblasting” out of a windshield. I’ve been wondering the same, so this morning I used the polish on a corner of my windshield. I just moved the car out into the sunlight, and looking through it from the interior of the car so I can move back and forth between polished and unpolished areas, I would say it removed about 75% of the speckling or sandblasting. There is still some speckling present, but it appears to have removed a fair amount of it. I will be interested to see how it looks in the dark, too, so I’ll report back tomorrow after my morning commute if it’s dark enough then. -D ___ http://www.okiebenz.com To search list archives http://www.okiebenz.com/archive/ To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: http://mail.okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com
