California was considering that a while ago. Every time they do, some

This line of discussion kind of sums up my problem with concealed carry.
It always seems to me that for it to make any sense as protection,
you had to be ready to shoot at any time, with an itchy trigger finger.
This *greatly* raises the odds that some innocent person is going to
get shot in a misunderstanding. It certainly happens too often with
cops, and cops are trained in that sort of thing, unlike someone who's
just picked up a gun at the local pawn shop and tucked it in their belt.

Not to mention, in the public place hero scenarios gun advocates like
to talk about, there's the real problem of knowing who's on your side.
Let's say some guy decides to rob the bank you're in and five people
whip out pistols. How do you know who you need to shoot and who you
don't? Some of them might be in on the job. Do you shoot all of them
just to be sure?

Oregon tried that for a while. They charged twice the normal
registration fee on hybrids. I think they eventually backed down, though.

Both look like double taxtation to me.

All money is taxed multiple times. I'm skeptical of double taxation
arguments.

It's an article about a proposal to levee an additional tax on hybrid
vehicles because they burn less fuel pay less than their share if road
tax.

The article also proposes a per mile tax on all vehicles, which we already
pay through our fuel tax.

Both look like double taxtation to me.

Your elected officials at work. This is the same administration that
responded to the recent fuel shortage by releasing some of our strategic
reserves and never asking us once to turn our thermostats down, carpool or
combine trips.

It's also the same administration that gives tax credits for buying hybrids,
insulation and solar energy components.

Wonder how they're going to tax my *bicycle*. Or maybe they'll give me a tax
credit for buying my next one.

Farging idiots.
