I used Dupli-color in a w115. Prep work is the key. I tried to be thorough, but was not as good as I could have been. The original was black Tex. Tan rattle can on door cards and seats lasted really well for over five years. Driver seat did show some issues in spots that were not really clean, and had a little flaky spalling. The SDL got leather seats and Tex door cards (grey turned to green) rattle can done much better with good prep work. I went for almost antiseptic and fully scrubbed down, removing any contaminants. Instead of the w115 method of plastering on color, I first used 3m pad to scuff, then did a seal coat, then light primer, followed with mist coat of color. Flexible coating rattle can products so it would not crack in usage. Three color coats lightly sprayed. Body oils on the arm rests made for less than spectacular adhesion even with the deep cleaning prep. The results are acceptable for a five footer. clay monroe > I turned my computer upside down and shook it, but the bookmark for what I'm > looking for didn't fall out. > On Jan 24, 2019, at 4:53 PM, Karl Wittnebel via Mercedes > wrote: > > Spray paint might work but there are lots of types of spray paint and who > knows how stable they would be over time. ___ http://www.okiebenz.com To search list archives http://www.okiebenz.com/archive/ To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: http://mail.okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com

Would the shoe polish come off on your clothes? Leatherique makes some dyes for leather seats. From a long time ago, Dye will soak into the leather because it has a lot of light volatiles to carry the color into the leather but shoe polish has a lot of wax that holds the color on top where with little penetration into the leather it will come off on your clothes. Re: [MBZ] Seat leather wearing
I'd guess that shoe polish will not soak into the vinyl, and WILL rub off onto your arm or sleeve. It doesn't last very long on shoes, why do you think it will on the seat? Use die, that's what it's made for. Use vinyl paint on the door.
