Sorry you feel I need to apologize to somebody who doesn't follow the rules. I
think you have it backwards. In my opinion, it is disrespectful to those who do
follow the rules not wanting to lose our advertising privileges.
For those who live in the United States, I am sure you are tired of
Hello,
You are referring to the statement I made, and I reread it and I see
that I was not clear.
Many years ago, there was not an AD Ban or a 1 Ad a week rule, this
was before your time on the list. In those days, a huge amount of ads
coincided with a multitude of diverse meteorite
I may be in the silent majority or minority but I actually enjoy going thru
each AD on this list. No matter if it's the same seller with ADS several times
a week. I've picked up quite a few deals offered. Perhaps it's because I'm so
new in collecting meteorites that it's fun to get new pieces

How about no ADS at all, but commercial information allowed... ;-)

After all, everyone was jumping all over Steve Arnold for his ads, but
it seems the same are ready to defend others for the same thing... Isnt that
a little odd?
There might be some on this topic a little wishy washy, but I for one

On the other hand, I am on the list for science information, and on any

I buy my meteorites from trusted associates I have known for years and
don't need to shop farther than them. I bet better prices from them than these

GeoZ. I'm surprised at your take on this. I've never seen a rule breaker

And you don't see much activity over there either. Most of my posts gets
shelved for days/weeks at a time that it's not worth the bother by the time
they do.Too many stringent rules stifle
Mike, I don't understand what point you're trying to make here.
IMCA is IMCA, MetList is an open email forum (very lightly) moderated by
Art. They are not in any way related, other than the obvious fact that
the community is small, many IMCA members are list members, and vice versa.

I enjoy ads. Ads are the life blood of the meteorite world. Ads
It's probably a poor analogy, but here goes :
If someone wins the Miss America crown, they are expected to behave a
certain way in public because that behavior reflects upon the Miss
America institution. The same can be said for many organizations
whose members interact with the public - they
Mike,
Your point is moot.
Mike Cottingham is not a member of the IMCA.
Neither is Steve Arnold (Chicago) and Bill Kies.
The Membership List is published on the IMCA website, and regularly
updated. You might want to look at it:

I agree with Dean, the negative vibe on this list has been high. I can
think of several people whom I respect in the meteorite world
You know the list would be a lot more pleasant if we
had less emails complaining about ads than the ads
themselves.
If you look though the archaives art is on record as

I don't remember any exceptions written into the one AD per week rule. It's
pretty simple and until Art says otherwise it should be respected. A lot of
dealers as well as dealers would bury us with mindless garbage and hype if
not for this basic guideline. 10 kilo lunar in your attic or not.
David,
If you recall, Art took a poll about this very subject and the vast majority
of the List members stated that anything more than one ad per week was
excessive. Art then posted the one ad per week rule to the List. It seems
that almost everybody honors this rule and it is more than just

Maybe this one week rule should be reconsidered.
Obviously it was implemented to eliminate spam. Major dealers like Mike and
