Hola Bob, E.P., All,
Hardly - the stuff they sell at the Meteor Crater store is shale.
They don't sell real meteorites on-site, though you can find freshly
dug-up irons on ebay from hunters for an average going price of
~$0.30/g.
You'd probably be best-off buying some Odessa nuggets or a lot of
tho
Thanks E.P. I'll see if they can help me out.
Regards,
Bob

With very few comments here on the list I also feel the need to respond to
this "cube" story.
It doesn't matter how many slices are added for sale of Cape York,
collectors always love them and pay plenty bucks for them. Now we start
nagging about a cube..?

As some of you may you I only collect Meteorite Spheres.
Most people seem to appreciate my collection but I've run across a few
people that have demonstrated utter disdain about how I choose to collect.
Personally I think that it's up to each individual to collect in a way that
works for them
Hi all!!!
This afternoon I have cutted a little OUM DREYGA (Amgala) that I bought a
couple of years ago at the Munich Mineral Show.
I have here for sale 2 little and thin slices and one end-piece. All the
specimen are completely surrounded by a very fresh fusion crust.

Hello All,
Here is another American classic I couldn't resist yesterday. Well, I had been
watching it for several days already and I had tried to ignore it after I had
recently bought a 0.95-gram partly crusted SNC individual from Marcin and
that terrific SNC slice I got on Ebay from Jim Strope. S

Hi,
I feel a need to "weigh-in" here.

The only time I have seen when a meteorite gets destroyed is when they hack up
an oriented piece or when they think the meteorite looks cool shaped like an
Iguana.
That cube looks awesome. Cant wait to see it in person.
Thanks for the photo Keith

Good Morning All,
Dave you are so right and so new! ;-)
We had many back and forth squabbles on this list and many of us just moaned to
see another.
But at the end we are all still on it, well some got tired of them I guess, but
at the end we are still all here and keep on staying and reading
Obviously true, Christian. And also true in John's note that cubes are
better than slices in some cases due to less kerf waste. I'd imagine most
(if not everyone) who have commented on the 3D aesthetic values also love
spheres for similar reasons. No need to expand on that...
Thanks for all of
Isn't each rectangular slice also a geometric figure ? e.g. a square ?
So this is a cube. It displays wonderful the 3-dimensional arrangement of the
crystals, as
this cube is cut 45° to the axis of the crystals. Wonderful 3D-Display!

Your points are right on the money, Martin. I very much agree, and it
surprising to see that there is little-to-no market appreciation in terms of
perceived economic value for this work with irons, particularly slices.
I'll assume that perhaps you would second my point below re: stones, and we
can
I agree with Keith. This cube is a wonderful specimen that shows
better than ordinary (not that meteorites are ordinary) slices. The
real shame in meteorite specimen processing over cutting. This cube
could have been cut into several slices but some one decided to
preserve it as a cube.

G'day all,
I need to pay some bills and also help fund a project I'm working on at the
moment so I'm offering a few of my more favourite pieces for sale. I never
had any intention to sell these but they're first on "the list"! ;-) The
pieces are:

business has a built-in financial incentive to cut meteorites into very
small pieces for distribution (because there is a larger market for smaller
pieces at a higher per-gram price many meteorites are essentially
