No. You've got an itch to scratch, fix that.

Ping Theo, couldnt someone create a needs improvments list n put it on like
OpenBSD.org?

This can all be done without GSoC, and OpenBSD is better off without it.
Obviously I cannot speak on behalf of any OpenBSD developers here, this
is just my thoughts based on observations of other open-source projects
that did GSoC over the years.
Some students were shit, letting the projects down

We tried it for two years, it was too much effort on the part of the
foundation organizers mentors to deal with the bureaucracy involved, and we
didn't really see enough
return in terms of new developers to the project, which, frankly being
selfish on OpenBSD's part is the only reason for us to do
The OpenBSD Foundation is pleased to announce that we have been
accepted as a mentoring organization for Google Summer of Code 2014.
As such if you are a student who qualifies to apply for GSOC, you will
be able to find us in Google's Summer of Code Application process.
We have an ideas page
Dear Sirs,
I wonder .. if I apply for GSoC2012 mentoring (GVRP/MVRP for OpenBSD and
BFD for OpenBSD), how does it look from OpenBSD point of view ?
will code be accepted by community ? any licensing issue ?
Cheers,

No, I think the goal is to run OpenBSD as DomU.
It seems NetBSD can run in Dom0, so OpenBSD could

Out of curiousity, do you know how the GPL licence of Xen affects dom0

That project (if/once completed) would be very useful. I just cringe
at the thought of running a guestOS of openbsd under linux or Solaris
;)

Runs just fine with VMWare Planer/Server under Windoze, .. however I
imagine a native Xen

A minor detail: OpenBSD will run on the Xen virtual machine

Google is doing their Summer of code this year also and since OpenBSD missed
it last year I thought maybe some official would wanted to sign up OpenBSD.
The site is: http://code.google.com/summerofcode.html
I'm not a student myself but I think this is a great way to get new people
to contribute
I don't think so. In some cases the GSoC was not a real success.
Just check the mozilla SoC. People create broken stuff and wanted
their money. Then they just disappeared.
OpenBSD wants people who love to hack on stuff and not just hack
because of the money they can get after the work is done.
Hi everybody,
I just read about Google Summer of Code 2006.
Will openbsd apply to be a mentoring organization?
This can be a good opportunity to get fresh people
working on openbsd.

Indeed. If the intention was to only cover northern countries, Summer
of Cold might have been a more appropriate name. :-)

I'd have no problem coming up with or supervising a few projects for
students like this, unfortunately, they aren't taking other projects
anymore...

Perhaps I'm misunderstanding the intent of your email, but I'll bite.
I'm a CS student (nearly graduated) with a job, family, and

OpenBSD. Find a card for which there is support in both. Now read

Well I think it's a great oppertunity to let a student dive into the
OS and they would probobly continue to work on the project afterwards.
I saw that and missed OpenBSD also.
They had some nice projects over at NetBSD actually.

I'm actually tryin to do some of the NetBSD projects to OpenBSD

I still think it's a good motivation for a student to spend alot of hours on it.
But in the end, nobody should code on suchs projects for the money,
but for the fun.
