[mnemosyne-proj-users] Re: Fresh Install 2.4 failing

2017-01-23 Thread duncansiontaylor
I just installed 2.4.1-pre-software-opengl.exe on my laptop (The one that had
installation problems).

Installs OK, tips window is OK, but Mnemosyne window is blank. The menu buttons
work and display menus, but the buttons themselves are hidden. You have to
click where you imagine they would be to bring up a menu.

[mnemosyne-proj-users] Re: Fresh Install 2.4 failing

2017-01-23 Thread duncansiontaylor
I will when I get the chance.

I'm also curious to know, and I don't know if you noticed in the two photos I
uploaded

In 2.4 with the fuzzy font, the Chinese character for the flash card is also
displayed differently. I'm not changing any settings, just
uninstalling/installing 2.3.6 or 2.4 over the top of my existing database.

In 2.3.6 the Chinese character is displayed with the font i have set in
Mnemosyne settings but with 2.4 the Chinese character is displayed differently
as if the font is no longer being used.

Is this related to the fuzzy problem or is it something different like
settings? I have no idea but thought I might mention it.

RE: [mnemosyne-proj-users] Error when syncing

2017-01-23 Thread Peter Bienstman
Hi,

If you run into troubles, best to start again from an empty /sdcard/Mnemosyne.
Also try with the 2.4.1-prerelease posted on this forum.

And, as always, I’m interested in knowing exactly what the error is, so that I
can see what’s going on and if something needs to be fixed ☺

Cheers,

Peter

If you've done a full sync from phone to PC in the past, you might have ended
up with two copies of files, i.e. A/B and A\B, which will get propagated back
to your phone after a full sync. However, you should be able to delete the

Hi,

The latest versions of Ubuntu have phased out support for QtWebKit, on which
Mnemosyne 2.3.x depends.

So, best to switch to 2.4.x and install the PyQt5 dependency by 'sudo pip3

There is already a Debian package for Mnemosyne 2.4, but I'm not sure if it's

Subject: [mnemosyne-proj-users] Errors when importing cards

I'm new to Mnemosyne, and just tried to import a list of Spanish cards.
However, for both sets that I tried I received this message:

Traceback (innermost last):
File "mnemosyne/pyqt_ui/import_dlg.py", line 76, in accept
  File "mnemosyne/libmnemosyne/file_formats/mnemosyne2_cards.py", line 213, in
do_import
  File
"/usr/local/Cellar/python3/3.5.2_3/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/3.5/lib/python3.5/encodings/ascii.py",
 line 26, in decode
UnicodeDecodeError: 'ascii' codec can't decode byte 0xe6 in position 335:
ordinal not in range(128)

They I get a progress bar that says "Decompressing" but the app itself stalls.

Any suggestions?

Paul

RE: [mnemosyne-proj-users] Got an error message; not sure if its important (things still seem to be working)

2017-01-23 Thread Peter Bienstman
Hi,

I would not worry about it. In any case, all the development is now happening
on version 2.4.x, so I won’t make any changes to the 2.3.x series.

Cheers,

Peter

Ver 2.3.6.

I believe I had just tabbed from one window to another (Alt+Tab) and it

the same time. I assumed the program would have crashed after that error, but
I closed the box and it seemed to just go on as usual. No abnormalities noted
in the software's function or my cards today either, and it hasn't happened
again. So I'll assume we're all good. Just get worried when I see something
like that after investing so much time in my cards!

Thank you again for your quick response, Chris S.

Hi,

Under which circumstances did you get the error? Which version is this? Can you
reproduce the error?

I was just given an error message that I haven't seen before and it said
