Wildcard certs have been discussed here on the list recently and
Thawte has been mentioned as the place to buy wildcard certs.
We decided to check and got the following answer:

Anyone has experience using them? Will they work with all the
recent browsers or might it be too problematic for production use?

Last week, I was running apache 1.3.6 + mod_php 3.0.10 + mod_ssl
I have a cert for issbase.com from Thawte. Until IE 5.0
came out I was using this cert for
- www.issbase.com
- foo.issbase.com
- bar.issbase.com
Now users with MSIE5 beta get the "this cert does not match
the name error."
