I uploaded a new version now that simply sets $VERSION to 1 on the affected modules. I'll see if I am going to increment that in future or not. Hello, It appears[1] that the XML::Assert module has no owner. Can the PAUSE user 'NZRS'[2] please be made the primary maintainer? Fwd: Failed: PAUSE indexer report STEVEB/Module-CheckDep-Version-0.02.tar.gz
Hi everyone, A couple of hours ago, I used CPAN::Uploader to upload a new distribution. I used the same software an hour before to upload v0.01, this attempt was v0.02. This was my first experience with the software. At the end of the email, it states to forward it along to modules@, so that's what I'm doing. Can you please advise if this eventually will be indexed, or whether I'll have to bump the ver and try again? "About PAUSE" says nothing about it. I believe that implicit in an upload is intent to distribute, so I think it's legal for us to mirror. License is about use, not just copying and we don't require an open source license. Nor do I think we ought to get into the business of deciding what is/isn't a valid license. Licensing
The latest version of Authen::CAS::Client has switched to a LICENSE file of: > This software is information. > It is subject only to local laws of physics. This is certainly not going to pass corporate compliance departments, as a few of us are currently trying to explain to the author on a bug, but it also makes me wonder: Do we have a restriction officially stated anywhere of "software you're allowed to upload to us, that we then have rights to distribute" ? In the Nagios::Plugin case the issue was who had the copyright; in this case the issue is that the copyright holder isn't granting enough via the license, but I'm wondering whether (a) we need to do anything about this (b) even if we don't *legally* need to, do we have a policy that we can quote to try and get the author to pick a license that people can use? -- Matt S Trout - Shadowcat Systems - Perl consulting with a commit bit and a clue http://shadowcat.co.uk/blog/matt-s-trout/ http://twitter.com/shadowcat_mst/ Email me now on mst (at) shadowcat.co.uk and let's chat about how our CPAN commercial support, training and consultancy packages could help your team.

I also approve of this ownership. NZRS sponsored the development of these modules and is the natural custodian of this Perl DNS Registry code.
