A Connecticut Warbler was seen in Crosby Farm this
morning at 9:15. It was along the path closest to the
ditch that parallels I-35E?s southbound lanes. It was
seen during an unsuccessful attempt to relocate the
Prothonotary Warbler. Pretty good BGBY bird though.

, but a Cerulean Warbler was present in the same area ( a little
over two miles south of the intersection of county roads 12 and 11).

5/21 (Wednesday) Maple Grove (85th Revere Lane) checked out the
grasslands adjacent to the sand pit: Bank Swallows Brewers Blackbirds
5/24 (Friday) Goodhue County: Ran down with Kevin Smith to the Frontenac
area for my frog toad survey. Under brillant skies the rapidly falling
Many grounded passerines are at Park Point in Duluth today. Highlights include
greater than 20 warbler species, including at least 2 individual Connecticuts
and 4 female Black-throated Blues (and LOADS of Chestnut-sided and Yellow
warblers and Common Yellowthroats). Also present were
Forgot to add...many thrushes as well, including multiple Gray-cheeked. We saw
25 species of warbler in between the bus turnaround and the recreation center.

Today I saw 1 ruddy turnstone and 4 semipalmated plovers at a small
sand pit off the new Tomahawk Rd southeast of Ely in the Superior
National Forest. Quite a shock to see in the middle of the forest!
They were probably forced down by the drizzly, foggy weather.

I'm also doing a BGBY effort this year. It's been great for
neighborhood awareness (South Minneapolis along Minnehaha Creek).
This evening, on a walk with my husband from the house, I saw my bgby
bird #156 (an olive-sided flycatcher). Ironically, that is I believe
1/2 of Minnesota's 312

Spent the afternoon birding in Southern Minnesota today.
Noon to 1:15pm - Minnesota Valley National Wildlife Refuge - Black Dog
unit - Cliff Fen Park trailhead. There were several Bell's Vireo's singing
at several locations along the main trail, that crosses under the power
Bill Stauffer and I birded around the Aitkin County area this last
weekend and found a total of 134 species. A few of the notables: a GREAT
GRAY OWL along Aitkin County Road 18 (3/10 of a mile east of the Hebron
Cemetery); SHARP-TAILED GROUSE in two areas also along C.R.18 (the first
at 1/2
It rained birds up the shore, starting Sunday May 25. Up until
yesterday, I had seen 5 species of warbler and one lone Veery.
Yellow-rumped W.
Western Palm W.
Black white W.
Cape May W.
Nashville W. Except for the abundant Yellow-rumps and Palms,
