I found a Northern Saw-whet Owl today in the woods by our home along the St. Croix River. If you look at the photo, there is an unidentified food item on the tree branch in front of the bird. We had a saw-whet owl for the Christmas Bird Count, about 2-3 miles from the bird today. Not sure if

Driving up Flying Cloud Drive (old 212) between Hwy 101 in Chanhassen and Pioneer Trail (Eden Prairie), we noticed today that the Minnesota River is incredibly low, revealing spacious mudflats filled with shorebirds. I couldn't take the time to stop and look, but it's unusual to see so much mud
