Can someone tell me why this bird is not in either of my birding books?
Rachel crownhart.
Ps: I did not have luck in locating it, might try again today.

Per usual numbers and variety of shorebirds had changed again this morning
compared to yesterday. Every morning this past week that I have been out I
have checked the same fields twice. Each morning the numbers have changed
between 6:00 and 7:30 with birds both arriving and departing at this
Was on the drive from 6:15 to 8:15 this morning, and had 75 species. When I
tallied the number, I was surprised it was that many! It seems the amount of
bird song from last week to week is much diminished, but there's still quite a
lot of activity out there, if you take the time to watch and
I hiked around Bagley Nature Area this morning. Got some fun shots and saw
some cool birds. Like yesterday, this morning was on the quieter side. Over
the past day however, there has been a burst of fledgling Black-capped
Chickadees throughout Bagley and my 3 mile round-trip walks to and from
Does anyone know if the Seward Neighborhood Eagles nest made it through the
storm? Had the eaglets fledged yet. The are was pretty hard hit and I had a
hard time finding the nest and tree this morning on a drive by.

Hi all,
Here is something you maybe didn't know about Forest StrnadHe discovered
the Sax-Zim Bog as a unique birding area...by accident.
Jan Green of Duluth relates the below story:
This is another quick reply about some history of Sax-Zim. I think you can say
it was discovered by
Yes, the nest is fine. I just walked by 15 minutes ago, and one of the
adults was standing next to the nest. Not sure what the current status of
the eaglets is - one of them was out of the nest on Monday; I haven't seen
or heard anything since then.

One of the eaglets was sitting right besides the nest early this morning---
yesterday both of them were around; there has been a lot of crying (for food?)
all over the first half of this week, including this morning. [The nest is

not in the Seward neighborhood but the neighboring
Unfortunately not all bird stories have a happy ending. As my relatives arrived
for 4th of July activities at my lake home, just before sundown a very
destructive thunderstorm struck the lakes area. Winds were clocked at 80 mph. I
had 9 large trees across my driveway and the biggest on my roof.
Yesterday, July 4, I heard what I thought was a Henslow's Sparrow just
southeast of New London in Kandiyohi County. I did not see the bird, so this
morning, July 5, I returned with Ron Erpelding and the bird was singing again.
We were able to find and observe the sparrow for about 20-25
