There was a lot of hawk and eagle activity on the Sherburne National Wildlife
Refuge the last couple of days - with no fewer than 4 rough-legged hawks seen
yesterday alone. Near the intersection of CR's 9 and 5 there were two birds -
one very light in color and one very dark in color. A third
this morning we had 3 Fox Sparrows, a FOY (First of Year) Lincoln Sparrow,
and a FOY Eastern Phoebe in the yard

It appears that April 6 may be the main thrust of Tundra Swans over the area.
I counted a total of 682 Tundra Swans in multiple flocks mainly heading due
west over different areas of the Rapids Lake refuge this morning.

On a tip from Cole Foster I found 3 Eared Grebes on the Coon Rapids side of the
Coon Rapids dam (Anoka County.) They are in the pond behind the main park
building, easily seen from the boat landing, often coming close to shore.
Hundreds of ducks in the area, counted 11 different.

My observations and comments from others indicate waterfowl numbers in
Cottonwood County (especially geese) have dropped greatly since Wednesday.
Today I saw no white-fronts or snows/Ross's.
On the flip side tree swallows and pelicans were seen in multiple locations
during a quick excursion
While out and about today we saw two FOY great egrets. One in a ditch pond
near Highway 36 and McKnight, the other at Lady Slipper Park on So. Owasso
Blvd in Roseville.

Hi,
I enjoyed birding Nobles county for most of the day but the best birding turned
out to be when I checked the Sleepy Eye WTP's on my way home. I estimated that
there were 90-100 shorebirds there. It was difficult to get exact counts due
to it being so cold and windy plus the birds were
I have seen many FOY duck species, Sandhill Cranes, 2 Greater Yellowlegs,
1Pied-Billed Grebe, and other migrants on the Dakota side of Lake Byllesby
during the last several days. Thanks to all who posted!
Today I decided I to check out the Goodhue side for a second time, at about 3
pm.

Hi All—
Today the back woods has been full of juncos, Golden-crowned Kinglets,
Hermit Thrushes, and a few phoebes. One of the creepers I caught was
originally banded on 6 October 2012. I do not know if this is a returning
migrant or a wintering bird.
