Saturday, December 14, we observed four Great Grey Owls along County 18, both East and West of Pietz's Road in Aitkin County. In the morning we saw two owls perched on telephone poles West of Pietz's and one just East of Hebron Cemetery. In the afternoon, from 1:00 to 2:00 we observed

Two at 4pm today. One along Aitkin CR18 1 mile west of Hebron Cemetery.  The second along Hwy 169 1/2 mile south of CR18.  Good look at a ruffed grouse feeding along CR18 also.  Nice end of a frustrating day with no eider in Duluth and no winter finches and not much else either in Sax Zim Bog.
