I have received a second-hand but credible report of a second Snowy Owl in Pope
County. This owl was seen just off Highway 55, near Lake Ann, roughly half-way
between Glenwood and Lowry.

I saw one of the Snowy Owl’s in Ramsey yesterday. It was sitting atop of an
out building at a construction company on Ferret St. and Armstrong Blvd. When
my daughter and I arrived, there were several people photographing the owl. I
took my requisite photos and left to try and find the other

I know how cool it has been to have snowy owls hanging around the Twin Cities.
I have spent many hours watching the ones down here in Dakota County.
Unfortunately I have also seen people going way too close to the owls and have
heard of people baiting them with mice.
This is WRONG and
Eleven American Robins have invaded our heated bird bath and I have never
experienced such thirsty birds. They crowd around the bird bath and stay there
dipping, sipping and pooping. I counted 20 dips by one bird before it caught
movement and flew off. Granted, they do not take in a large

Hey birders,
I had a couple of students who were unable to make a trip to the Sax-Zim Bog

I had the same circumstance three years ago with robins at my heated bird

We had a Red-shouldered Hawk visit our suet feeders today. We live along the
St. Croix River below Taylors Falls. This is good habitat for these hawks and
they do visit our open suet feeder in the winter from time to time. This one
was interested in suet (mostly) and a piece of beef kidney
A lovely day here, spent in the good company of many Snow Buntings and Horned

A Snowy Owl was spotted north of County Road 31 (300th Street). It was in
Section 22 on the north side of the road. This is east of Highway 13. A scope

This afternoon I went looking for the Atwater Snowy Owl and succeeeded in
finding it almost right away. The owl was on a pole on Kandiyohi Co. Rd. 10
about 1 mile west of Co. Rd. 2 (the same area it is been seen by numerous
birders over the last month). The owl flew from the pole a short
Since I had previously looked for (and failed to find) Snowy Owls that Ron
Erpelding had reported 3-4 weeks ago, I followed up on Herb Dingmann's
recent report (see below) of finding Snowy Owls (two of which were in
locations where Ron had found them).
In Pope County I found an adult on the
