Ten owls in the first 10 minutes 7:20 to 7:40 this AM. 700th St./110 Ave to

I believe they're following to thousands of waterfowl, longspurs, snow
buntings. The fields are flooded with melted snow.

Yesterday I birded Carpenter Nature Center with Abrahm Simons from about 10
am-12:30 pm. Raptors included 33 BALD EAGLES, 36 RED-TAILED HAWKS, 1 COOPER'S
HAWK, and 1 PEREGRINE FALCON. There were thousands of waterfowl flyovers, most
of which were either too high up or too far out to ID.
An extraordinary day. I recounted the area three times and tallied 15
Snowy Owls. Working together with some friends in another car who
independently saw 14. Their total included birds not on my list; i had
birds not counted by them. The total number of owls in area the could be
over 20.

Conny Brunell's post inspired a return trip to Randolph Industrial Park
where we enjoyed close looks at the many Greater White-Fronted Geese on the
north pond. Numerous others passed overhead going to and from L. Byllesby.
Also productive were the farm fields with low-lying wet area,s where
