Several birders kept watch at Salt Lake today (Tue. June 7) from 8am until at
least 3:30 pm without any Gull-billed Tern sighting.
Meanwhile, Blk-bellied Whistling Duck still at Hutch Sanctuary as of 7 pm
today. Looks rather dazed and confused.

Is this a wild bird? I observed the bird yesterday (6/6). While viewing it, it
was flushed by another duck and flew about 100 feet away. So it can fly. I also
observed that both back claws (dew claw?) were intact. This was a reason that
the Smew in Rochester was judged to be an escape some years
I went out on Sunday morning with about 24 birders on the annual MRVAC
Dakota County Prairie Birds field trip and with perfect summer conditions
found 68 species before we burned out. We started at Schaar's Bluff and
then visited the Archery Range, 140th Street marsh, Emery Avenue, and with
