first reported on November 27, was seen again this morning after their return
from a 9-day trip. The bird hadn't been present during the days before their
departure so the new sighting comes as an unexpec

A brief siting of immature golden-crowned sparrow (duluth version) at about 9
a.m. today. The bird was ground-feeding with a junco and song sparrow.

Another brief appearance in our yard between 6:30 and 7:00 a.m. today. As
elusive as this bird has been, it has now been seen in each of the past four
months.

The golden crowned sparrow was at our feeders again late this afternoon. I
fired off a few new photos which are available at:

I was mistaken, in my previous message, about the last sighting of the gc
sparrow. It was actually seen last on January 29 rather than on the 19th. So,
about a 4 week interval between appearances.

The immature golden-crowned sparrow was seen at our feeders in Duluth from 7:15
to 7:45 this morning. It is the first time that I have seen the bird since
January 19.
It is snowing this morning, as it has been on almost all of the days that this
bird has appeared here.

. I wonder what, if anything,
you would make of that?

The immature golden crowned sparrow was present at our feeders from about 8:30
a.m. to 10 a.m. this morning. I have a photo of the bird on Facebook along with
one I took four weeks ago (presumably of the same bird). The url should be
publicly accessible:

I have an immature golden crowned sparrow coming to my feeder at 21 E. College
St. in Duluth this morning. I'm assuming that it is the same individual that
was visiting just before Christmas.

Found at about 1:00 p.m. near the Hartley Nature Center. It perched from
several trees near the visitors' center before flying in the direction of the
reservoir. There was also a small flock of White-winged crossbills which could
be seen/heard near the parking area by the center.
There has been a flock of about 40 white-winged crossbills visiting spruce
trees just to the east of Woodland Ave. (around E. Kent, E. College and Clover)
this morning.

I found a Green Heron working its way around the pond at the Bagley Nature
Area (UMD) this afternoon at around 4:00 p.m. I had read some time ago that
this might be a good place to spot this species, but this was the first luck
that I have had after quite a few visits there.
