We had a male red-bellied woodpecker around the house this morning
(photographed). This is the first we have seen here. I see that it is listed
as occasional in St. Louis County but given its continuing range expansion I
was curious whether it is now of more regular occurrence.

Hi All,
The white owl has morphed into a gull, thanks to Mr. A.X.H. and his ability
to digitally enhance images.
Both American Golden and Black-bellied plovers are still being seen on the
wildlife drive - Stickney Pool area, but also possible on other pools/mud
flats along the drive.
The
Walking with my pooches in Hagemeister Pond which is at 6427 41st Avenue North
in Crystal, we found some pretty cool birds in this small neighborhood
preserve. Highlights were 2 new neighborhood birds: Golden-crowned Kinglet near
gazebo and a very cooperative Winter Wren at east end of floating
