St
Bend in the River County Park south of Rice. From the farmstead take the trail
south and then take the trail that branches off to the right down to the river
bottom. At the bottom take the trail back to the right.

I just found it on the opposite side of the parking lot. I also had a brief
look at what I believe was a female/first year bird near the brown
Trailhead Parking sign.

Miedd Lake in Yellow Medicine County. Distant looks at a single bird at 8:40
this AM. Lots of other shorebirds as well.

Ron Erpelding located a hayfield at the NE corner of CR11 and 240th St. in
western Renville County that has a number of both species in it. My quick
count came up with 17 birds - more Uplands than Buff-breasteds - but Ron saw
more than that earlier.

Ron Erpelding and I just located a single Buff-breasted Sandpiper in a mowed
hayfield at CR18 and 220th Ave in Pope County. Best views are from 220th Ave
which is a dead-end road south from CR18. This is an apparent first county
record.

A single White-winged Scoter is currently present on Little Rock Lake in Benton
County. I am viewing it from a small park off West Lake Road, but it may also
be possible to see it from Benton Beach Park on the north end of the lake.

After seeing some eBird alerts last night that the Phalarope was still present,
Ron Erpelding and I decided to make another run for it this morning. However
the ponds are all completely iced over and not even any waterfowl present.
