Just before 9 AM this morning a fairly dark snowy owl was seen sitting
along a fence line north of 690th St. 1/2 mile east of 140th Ave. The owl
flew into the section south of 690th but was not relocated.

and very tame on utility pole at 700th St. and 150th Ave. Snowy #3 a
light owl flew off of the road, 690th west of 130th Ave. (County Road 3).

At 8:10 this morning 3 Snowy Owls were present within a mile of each other
along 690th St. between 120th Ave. and 140th Ave.

Four snowy owls were present today in SW Dodge Co between 2:30 and 4:00.
Three light and one very dark owl. Observations were made from 690th
between 120th Ave and 150th. Also along 150th.

All four snowy owls were seen within a mile. Three were along 120th Ave.
between 690th St. and 700th. and the fourth along 690th between 120th and
130th Ave. Observed between 1 and 2 PM. They seem to favor sitting on the
roadside snow piles.

Around 7 PM five snowy owls were sighted in SW Dodge Co. One owl along
700th St. east of 110th Ave. One along 120th Ave. N. of 700th. Three
along 690th St. between 120th and 140th Ave.

of 690th. We then observed the Merlin rise up and then make a couple of
diving passes at the owl as if to say 'I see you.'

Ten owls in the first 10 minutes 7:20 to 7:40 this AM. 700th St./110 Ave to
120th north to 690th. One owl spotted on 150th.
I believe they're following to thousands of waterfowl, longspurs, snow
buntings. The fields are flooded with melted snow.

I was out this AM between 7:30 to 8:30 and found 5 owls. All were on 700th and
690th St., 120th and 130th Ave.

There are still pretty good numbers of Snowy Owls in their usual haunts on
690th St., 700th St, 110th Ave. 710th St. I found 8 in about an hour around 3
PM this afternoon (4/3).

are relatively tame birds and with patience close-up
shots are possible and easy. This is one owl that may not be so tame in the
future.

Our party discovered a pied-billed grebe in the Straight River north of
Owatonna near Cedar St. This bird is a first for this CBC circle.

Perfect owl-finding weather (clear and calm) yesterday (2/19) just prior
to sunset produced 3 owls. Two dark owls within 1/2 mile of 120th
Ave/690th St corner and one adult male on the corner of 160th/670th.

On a hunch I checked a soil conservation district wetland restoration
project north of Rice Lake State Park about 3 miles. About 3:30 PM one
male Snowy Owl was roosting in grassland stubble east of NE 84th Ave.one
quarter mile south of NE 50th St.

observed from the picnic point. Today that ice is out except along the
edges where the eagles were lined up for easy counting. The eastern end was
still mostly ice and I found additional eagles for a total of approximately
60 to 70. A good variety of waterfowl are also present on the lake.

The Surf Scoter originally reported May 1 was observed again this morning
around 8:30. Last seen SW off picnic point at Rice Lake State Park.
I have looked for the bird over the past week to no avail until this morning.
